Jewellery Care Guide
Jewellery can tarnish and become dull over time due to its exposure to air and moisture.
Occasionally acids and oils on the skin can react with the copper within the alloy and can result in a greenish discoloration on the skin. Typically this is caused by using acidic products on the skin that come into contact with the jewellery. These can be harmful to your jewellery so it is essential you follow these instructions to maintain the condition of your jewellery.
- Remove while cooking, cleaning or washing up
- Avoid direct contact with chemicals including chlorine*. If it does come into contact with chemicals, rinse it in water immediately
- Avoid direct contact with perfume, lotions or cosmetics
- Remove when sleeping
- Remove before any activity which could scratch or damage it
- Remove before entering water
- Store away from sunlight, excessive heat or damp
- Clean with a soft cloth
If your jewellery becomes heavily tarnished then you may also source a good quality polish to restore the shine. Choose a cleaner specifically designed for the metal you want to clean and follow the instructions carefully.
*Chlorine can cause jewellery to become brittle and break so this is especially important.
